Autonomous driving will be reality in near future

Autonomous driving will be reality in near future. However, at present neither the legal requirements nor the technological conditions are available to justify too much optimism. The scandals about emissions controls in particular in Europe an in the USA have demonstrated the lack of legally efficient means to met legal requirements of emission control. The increasing number of recalls has provided evidence that conventional technologies and quality control mechanism do not guarantee higher safety standards required for safe autonomous driving. New potentials of hazards associated to autonomous driving exclude to release the driver from the driver’s responsibility and liability when using an autonomous driving vehicle irrespective of the increasing liability of the vehicle manufacturers. Using autonomous operated vehicles the driver is loosing control over the driver’s personal data shifting from a participant of public traffic to the target of data manipulation. This means that autonomous driving gives reasons to consider also social and ethical questions.
